This week:

Busy People
Spaces on Camp
Your vital role

All of a sudden it is June again and the camps start in just over 5 weeks time. I don't think anyone is panicking but the pressure is on and an awful lot has to be done:

Busy People

Leadership Teams: All the administration (CRBs, References etc) have to be chased from their team members; team days organised; trips booked; budgets balanced; letters to campers written; risk assessments drawn up ... and all in the spare time alongside busy jobs, family life and service in the local church. Pray for the leaders to have time to do things well, wisdom to make right choices, patience with complicated issues and grace in all their interactions.

Chaplains: Bible Study notes will have been supplied to the officers by now and work on the main messages will be underway. Some officers will be in contact to get help with passages they are struggling with or advice on how to apply something. Pray that the Lord will speak to them in their preparation and burn the message on their hearts so that they communicate as repentent, passionate, sinners who know a great and gracious God.

Officers: Work on the Bible Studies should have started; jobs will be allocated, some of which require preparation like craft ideas or outdoor activity games. Dorm allocations will be made soonish and officers will begin to pray by name for those in their care. Pray for the Bible Studies to become alive in their experience so that they may share the truth in a helpful way to the young people and ask the Lord to maintain them in their own walk with the Lord as camp looms.

Cooks: Menu's will soon be drawn up, food sourced and ordered, camp leaders will be liaised with regarding programme and timings. The caterers are crucial people on camp and much spiritual work gets done in the kitchen and around the meal tables. Pray for wisdom in menu preparation, especially with complex dietary requirements. Please pray especially for those catering on camp for the first time.

Office Staff: Bookings are slowing down but the admin piles up as leaders letters to campers are sent out, medical forms are distributed, buses booked, databases updated and queries answered. We are very grateful to the volunteers who come in regularly to help ease the load. Pray for good memories to ensure everything is done at the right time and a sense of being a part of the Lord's work in the midst of the paperwork.

Spaces on Camp

Sadly, owing to low bookings, we have had to cancel the 17-19 Outdoor Camp at Dolgoch Falls.

In total 399 young people are booked on English speaking camps so far which is encouraging but that is down by 35 on this time last year.

Only the 13-15 camps at Pentrenant Hall and Bryn-y-groes are full so please pray that more bookings would come in and if you know of anyone not going on camp please encourage them to consider coming. It may just change their life!

Your vital role

Thank you for praying through the year with us. Can I encourage you to speak to anyone you know serving on camp this year and ask if there is anything specific you can pray for? I'm sure they would appreciate the interest shown.

English Camps Committee Chairman
