Well, some have survived and some haven't. The first camps are finished, week 2 is under way and Swine Flu has hit already. (And just in case you're interested - it's raining in Criccieth and the internet cafe is packed!)
First week of camps - round up
Andrew Rees the leader at the 10-12 camp at Bryntirion says please give thanks for:
A great officer team who worked really well together,
Dry weather when we needed it
Some great times of study and preaching
Tthe chaplain Jonathan Thomas has recorded his experiences on his blog http://veryrandomthoughts.wordpress.com/2009/07/27/camp-round-up/. He clearly had a good time and there are many things there to thank God for.
Jeremy Bailey, the chaplain at the 16-18 camp at Bala says: The Lord's blessing was on the camp at Bala. We all came away with an overwhelming sense of the greatness and goodness of God. Since the majority of the youngsters were professing believers we spent a lot of time dealing with issues of practical Christian living, especially assurance of salvation.
I picked my daughter up from the 13-15 camp at Pentrenant Hall. This was the camp that the swine flu visited, with ten young people having to go home early on the Friday. The ladies leader and first aider on the team looked shattered after night vigils but the Lord had been very gracious in enabling them to care appropriately for the campers and the camp not being ruined by the illness. Campers and team had a good week with the new venue working well and a sense of God's blessing amongst spiritually mature young people.
Camp 3 Bala 10-12s
Please pray for Tim Powell as he leads this camp for the first time. Pray too for Andy Pitt as he ministers God's Word as the chaplain. The Eistedfodd is in Bala at the same time so Bala will be busy.
Camp 7 Bryntirion 13-15s
This is a new camp team with 13-15s at this venue for the first time in some years if not ever. Please pray for the team to gel quickly, for the kids to quickly settle in and for Alex Collins as he ministers God's Word.
